Long-tail keywords
In one sentence
Longer, more specific search queries. While individual search volume is low, their cumulative volume is massive, user intent is clear, and competition is lower.
"Dehumidifier" is a broad, highly competitive head term. "How to choose a basement dehumidifier for rainy season" is a long-tail query—fewer people search for it, but those who do have very specific needs.
In AI search, user prompts are naturally longer and more specific, making coverage of long-tail queries even more critical.
Example
A smaller brand struggled to rank for the generic term "dehumidifier." However, after publishing 50 scenario-specific buying guides, traffic and inbound inquiries from long-tail queries increased noticeably.
