An FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer) is an engineer placed inside your company and accountable for business results. Starbox sends a small embedded team that understands both the business and AI. It starts in one department, turns repetitive work into agent systems that actually run, and then rolls out across the company quarter by quarter.
Summary
Starbox FDE consulting follows the FDE model proven by Palantir and adds 15 years of experience serving companies: diagnose the company and map its processes first, then build agents. Phase one usually starts in marketing and runs the full DDABC marketing chain, then rolls out department by department over 12 months. The measure of success is that after Starbox leaves, your own team keeps working efficiently with AI.
Our foundation
Understand the company first, then build agents.

Why FDE
The expensive part of AI adoption is not the tools. It is trial and error.
In the past two years nearly every company has tried AI, but few have AI doing real work every day and getting better over time. The problem is rarely the model. It is three hurdles:
The tools are switched on and employees still work the old way. Without process change, AI is just one more login.
Everything works in the demo, then stalls in real work: scattered data, inconsistent wording, no one accountable for results.
Tech teams can build agents but cannot say how the business should change; business teams know the pain but not how far AI can go.
What FDE is
Put engineers on site until the system runs.
Forward Deployed Engineer. Pioneered by Palantir in the 2010s and later adopted by OpenAI, Anthropic, Databricks and others: full-stack engineers embedded in the client's real environment solve problems end to end, then feed what they learn back into the platform.
No demo pitches. They are there to do the work.
What they deliver is a system that runs.
They take part in redesigning the business process.
Field experience goes back into the product, which keeps improving.
In one line: FDE is "platform + embedded engineers + accountable for results". What it sells is not software but a business that works.

What we do
From seeing the problem clearly to a running system.
Consulting methods to understand the organization and processes before writing any code.
Organization · process · bottlenecksUncover the real needs the company itself cannot articulate. This is the core FDE skill.
Real needs · prioritiesStandardize the process first, then apply AI. Agents only add value once the process is right.
Standardized · documentedCustom agents for each kind of repetitive human work.
Role distillation · dedicated agentsTake one whole department onto AI, then roll out to the next.
One department firstProven methods and reusable assets cut the cost of trial and error.
Solution library · reusableWhere we stop: FDE orchestrates, supervises and coaches hands-on, but does not do employees' jobs for them. The goal is to activate your own team, not to make you depend on outside people.
Method
The DDABC marketing chain tells you what to do and in what order.
Phase one usually starts in marketing: run the full marketing chain through five stages and distill the working methods of key roles into "role SOP + dedicated work agent". People may leave; the capability stays.
Pin down target customers, the core selling points and the channel mix. Customer profiles · selling points · positioning.
Make sure target customers come across you on every platform and in search. Video IP matrix · product posts · SEO / GEO · ad creative.
Prove reliability from several angles. Expert content · reviews · cases · credentials.
From interest to enquiry to sale. Answer scripts · campaigns · closing.
Repeat purchases, reviews and referrals. Community · review content · referral programs.
The content mix differs by sector. In trust-driven sectors with long decisions, trust content takes the largest share; in traffic-driven sectors, "discover" comes first. Below is the mix for a K-12 education client:
12-month roadmap
From one department to the whole company.
- Platform foundation
- Company knowledge base
- Full DDABC chain live
- Role distillation
- Complete SOPs
- First agents live
- Work agents distilled for operations, customer service and support teams
- Marketing moves to steady-state operation
- AI rolled out to functional and admin teams
- Build up the next cycle along DDABC
- AI locked in across all departments
- Second marketing push
- Industry solution and benchmark case written up
Q1 covers the platform, knowledge base, full marketing chain, role distillation, all SOPs and the first agents, so the effort is front-loaded; the next three quarters roll out and optimize department by department, and effort naturally drops.
After one year
What stays with the company is eight organizational assets.
A dedicated company workspace on our own platform; platform content production costs are included in the engagement.
Experience scattered across files, chats and senior staff, cleaned and stored so it can be searched and used.
Standardize first, then apply AI; everything documented and turned into process.
Workflows and experience of key roles, mapped to your actual org structure, distilled into repeatable assets.
First department agents live, then rolled out company-wide quarter by quarter.
Define → Discover → Assure → Buy → Continue, with the mix and pace tailored to your sector.
Roadshows, team training and internal rollout coaching, so employees can and want to use it.
Customer success support all year; in Q4, an industry solution and benchmark case.
Success is not "Starbox people doing your work".
It is your team working efficiently with AI after Starbox leaves.
How we engage
Five steps: results first, then the full engagement.
An in-depth conversation to pin down your real needs and AI direction.
KickoffAn AI adoption plan for your company, and a first set of agents deployed in one department (for example marketing).
15–30 daysPresent the plan, deploy the first agents and coach the internal rollout.
Organizational pushValidate results in real use, collect feedback and adjust the plan.
About 1 monthOnly after this trial period do we agree a 12-month engagement.
ContractOnce the direction is agreed, a deposit starts the work. If you sign the annual agreement, the deposit counts in full toward the fee; if not, it covers the initial plan and first agent deployment.
For a small cost you get a plan built for your company and see the first agents running in your real business, then decide on a full engagement.
Proof
Not a concept. Results already delivered.
K-12 education · AI admissions · featured case
In 3 months, a private boarding high school became the model for "admissions with AI"
The FDE measure of success: "after admissions season, the school's own people work efficiently with AI", not "two Starbox people working for the school".
Different industries, same method
Ten years of structure and process sheets and past quotes became a knowledge base behind an AI quoting assistant; sales reps explain materials, structure and process and quote on the spot in front of the client.
The owner steps back, new hires contribute from day one, and the team can grow.
Customers, products, space and decisions connected in four steps; customer, sales and display data layered to produce five display fixes backed by data.
Store managers still use AI daily to issue fix lists.
Two days on site found the sending domain flagged. We fixed delivery first, then turned business cards, past clients and leads into reusable customer assets; 300 business cards processed end to end in 3 days.
Amplifying activity is fake adoption; amplifying results is the real thing.
Top performers' plan selection logic and scripts became skills inside every rep's AI assistant; scenario drills back at the office, and new-hire assessment went digital.
Not using AI to cut people, but letting the same people do more.
Lighthouse industries live: consulting, agency services, apparel, education, legal services. All cases are anonymized.

About Starbox Starbox!FAQ
FDE consulting FAQ
What does FDE mean?
FDE stands for Forward Deployed Engineer, a model pioneered by Palantir in the 2010s: dispatching engineers directly to client sites to solve problems end-to-end until the system actually works in production. It is not sales, not traditional consulting, not mere implementation, and not outsourcing—it delivers a fully functioning, proven business operation.
How is Starbox's FDE different from traditional FDE?
Traditional FDE focuses purely on engineering, typically serves large enterprises with mature data foundations, and requires clients to articulate their own requirements. Starbox FDE builds on technical engineering with 15 years of B2B experience across consulting, marketing, outsourcing, and training, backed by insights from serving over 500 enterprises. We first diagnose the business and map workflows before building AI agents—so if you can't clearly define your requirements, we structure them for you.
What does FDE consulting actually cover?
Six core initiatives in sequence: enterprise diagnostics and assessment, in-depth requirement discovery, end-to-end SOP optimization, agentifying repetitive tasks, department-level AI enablement, and using proven methodologies to cut trial and error. Stage one typically starts with marketing, then scales across the company department by department on a quarterly basis.
Why start with marketing?
Marketing feels the sharpest pain points, delivers measurable outcomes, has a low barrier to entry, and produces replicable experience—making it the easiest place to show early results. Starbox validates the full cycle within marketing using the DDABC full-funnel marketing model (Define, Discover, Believe, Convert, Continue), then expands to operations, customer service, and functional teams.
What tangible assets does your enterprise retain after one year?
Eight enterprise-owned assets: the underlying platform foundation, enterprise knowledge base, process and SOP framework, distilled role capabilities, a dedicated matrix of workplace AI agents, a customized DDABC full-funnel marketing system tailored to your industry, the team's operational AI capabilities, and an industry benchmark solution built through year-long hands-on support.
Will FDE consultants do the work for your employees?
No. FDE handles orchestration, supervision, and hands-on coaching, but does not step in to do the day-to-day work for your staff. The definition of success is that once Starbox steps back, your internal team continues to work productively with AI without relying on external personnel.
How does the engagement begin?
In five steps: an initial consultation to set the direction; developing an implementation plan and deploying the first AI agents in a single department (approx. 15–30 days); a proposal roadshow and internal rollout guidance; real-world trial and alignment for about one month; and finally finalizing an annual framework agreement. A deposit of intent is paid at kickoff and fully credited toward the annual framework fee once signed.
How does the 12-month rollout progress?
Q1 focuses on overall architecture and initial department implementation, completing the platform foundation, knowledge base, DDABC full-funnel model, role capability distillation, complete SOPs, and the launch of the first AI agents—requiring the most concentrated effort. Q2 and Q3 expand to other departments with continuous optimization. Q4 solidifies adoption across all departments and codifies an industry-level solution and benchmark case studies.
Which companies is FDE consulting built for?
Companies that already recognize the value of AI, want systematic implementation, and require deep customization aligned with their internal workflows. Businesses that only need off-the-shelf products can directly use Starbox GEO, Starbox Content Factory, or Starbox Starbox!.
How does pricing work?
Engagements are structured as annual frameworks, with two options: Lighthouse Co-creation and Standard. For Lighthouse clients, Starbox covers part of the cost in exchange for participating in public case studies. Standard clients have no obligation to share public case studies. For specific pricing, please book an FDE consulting session for an initial discovery call before receiving a formal proposal.
