llms.txt

llms.txtAI Terms

In one sentence

An explanatory file placed in the website root directory for AI to read, using brief text and links to explain what the site is and which pages matter most.

Webpages contain navigation bars, ads, and scripts that make parsing difficult for AI. llms.txt uses plain text to list site summaries and key pages, helping AI understand the site quickly.

This is a community-proposed format. While not all AI models read it yet, implementation cost is very low, making it a solid baseline setup for GEO.

Example

Starbox's official site /llms.txt lists the company profile, links to product pages, and Knowledge Center articles, each with a one-sentence description.
