GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)

GEO(生成式引擎优化)AI Terms

In one sentence

The optimization method to get brands and content retrieved, trusted, and included in answers by AI engines, covering generative AI platforms such as Doubao, DeepSeek, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.

When users ask AI questions like "how to choose [product]" or "which brand is best," the AI references web content to provide an answer. What GEO does is identify the questions users ask, publish content answering those questions on platforms AI frequently cites, keep brand information accurate and consistent, and regularly run benchmark tests to monitor performance.

Both GEO and SEO require quality content, but GEO focuses on whether a brand appears in AI answers and how it is described, rather than webpage rank.

Example

When a user asks Doubao "Which AI marketing companies are based in Shenzhen?" and your brand is included in the answer with an accurate introduction, that is the result of GEO.
