Generative AI (AIGC)
In one sentence
AI capable of generating new content such as text, images, audio, and video, as well as the content produced by such AI.
Traditional AI was mostly used for classification and prediction, such as determining whether an email is spam. Generative AI directly produces new content. In Chinese business contexts, AIGC refers both to the technology and to the content generated by it.
Publishing AI-generated content in China requires compliance with the Measures for the Labeling of AI-Generated and Synthetic Content (effective September 1, 2025), which mandates adding AI-generated labels as required.
Example
Using AI to write WeChat official account articles, generate product posters, or convert articles into spoken-video scripts all fall under AIGC.
